Tibetan King songtsan Gampo move his capital city to Lhasa and built a palace on site which is now occupied by the potala palace. Ramoche and Jokang temple was built to enshrine the price less Buddha statue brought by the wives of Songtsan Gampo. Later during the reign of Fifth Dalai Lama he build his palace on the ruins of Songtsan gampo’s seventh century palace and ruled Tibet from it.
