The golden star festival is know as Karma topa in Tibetan, it is held on seventh month of the Tibetan calender when Venus appears in Sky, and it last for the fortnight. During this celebration Tibetans would camp out on the riverside and take a ritual bath. Legend has it that bathing during these days would wash away all the misfortune and diseases. Water at that time has eight qualities which makes it suitable for taking bath: sweet, cool,soft, clarity, clean, and its not harmful to throat and belly. It also marks the starting of an ending of summer in Tibetan plateau.
During this festival you can take bath in open air environment and you can camp at river bank with lots of Tibetan families or you can have picnic with Tibetan families. It would be a wonderful experiences if you choose to visit for the festival.
